So, this month we decided to change things around a bit. We will be doing a product review on the Imou Ranger, as part of your Home Automation journey.
One of the things that really make the Imou Ranger a must have is the fact that it has a siren to scare off intruders and a two-way microphone to talk with anyone who is at your house, even when you are not.
What is it?
The Imou Ranger is an indoor wi-fi security camera that records full HD video when motion or sound is detected. The lens of the camera can be rotated and tilted via the app on your phone, so you can view and record every corner in the room.
It works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and you can even ask the voice assistance to show you the camera's live feed from a compatible device. All the footage is stored on a micro SD card or in a secure area online if you pay a monthly subscription fee.
The expert verdict:
It is easy to use, and you can set it up to cut out any motion from pets, headlights, or the wind. In other words, it only motion made by humans, this will really help with cutting out all false alarms. The videos recorded are clear and you can track the subject creating the movement by using the camera lens.
We were really impressed with the "human detection" feature, it was not only accurate at identifying the source but also sending out timely notifications. The video recordings both during the day and in the evenings were clear and the audio seamlessly in-sync with the image.
It is easy to select and assign the areas you want monitored or ignored and you can schedule the times you want to record. For those of us who value our privacy, there is even a Privacy Mode, to ensure that nothing is recorded.
Here are the ratings:

- Design: 3.5/5
- Instructions: 3.5/5

This is a really nice tool to have when security for your home and your family is a priority.
